ORION

ORION
Most people know the constellation and can easily spot it in a winter night sky. Orion is a legendary hunter in Greek mythology; the story goes that as Orion's hunting prowess grew, so did the size of his ego. He even went so far as to claim completely superiority over all creatures. Of course this did not suit well with the gods, and they sent Scorpius, the Scorpion to sting him and end his life. The goddess Diana asked that Orion be remembered for his greatness as a hunter, and thus the gods placed him in the sky, and placed Scorpius in the sky as well as a warning to narcissists. Orion did not wish to be placed near the scorpion, and so Orion was placed in the winter sky, while Scorpius dominates the southern sky in summer. Anyway, aside from the beautiful stars Rigel and Betelgeuse, there are the stars Alnitak, Alnilam and Mintaka which form Orion's belt in the central area of the constellation. It is here you can also find treats like the Great Orion and Horsehead Nebulae, as well as the beautiful Trapezium Cluster and Flame Nebula.
