CANOPUS
CANOPUS - is the brightest star in the southern constellation of Carina, and the second brightest star in the night time sky, with a visual magnitude of −0.72, second only to Sirius and despite being 330 light years distant. Canopus is an unusual white supergiant star. From most parts of the southern hemisphere, Canopus and Sirius are both visible high in the sky at once when they reach their highest points in the sky 21 minutes apart.
